Why isn't there a Golf GTI Estate?

Featured Replies

Was just pondering this.  Now that VW Group are using the pretty clever MQB architecture,  why haven't they stuck a GTI badge on a Golf estate yet?  Is it a 'tradition' thing?

They offer both the GTD and R in estate forms.  Why not the GTI too?; surely there's a market for people who want a fast(er) Golf that doesn't have a diesel engine or the performance and running costs of the R ?

They are sticking 'sports' badges on everything else, so why not the GTI badge on an estate?

Gti was the original  concept of the Hot Hatch - History!  Golf R gives you everything you need form a Hot Estate, family package ,with backend control / stability .

VW seem to want folks to buy either 242bhp Golf hatch, 242bhp Audi TT Coupe, 242bhp Octavia Estate or 242bhp Porsche Macan SUV ranging from £27,000 to £47,000 depending on budget if not space required.
