Door Mirrors

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am not overly impressed with my chrome mirrors as they have both received stone chips and the chrome is flaking badly, add that with road salt and they look rough as guts.

So i have two ideas, buy some new cases (does anyone know how much these cost new? - Primed OEM equipment) - The old ones were both cracked anyway, which is why i cant reuse them.

The other idea is get some mirrors like the last of the old shape and new shape Passat have and install them.

Firstly whats your opinions guys and girls?

Secondly I may want to keep the Silver theme with the mirrors and may get the new ones painted matt silver similar to the new Audi S4 etc.

Thanks

SJ

I've got the Milotec Chrome covers, which has been on since April 2005. My car has covered 25000 miles since then, and the covers are as good as new!

I think the chrome mirrors look great, and quite a lot of people have made favourable comments about them :)

Your mirrors look great mate but I only think that they work on a dark colour car, for example on mine I would not be convinced.

I have always wondered how long the mirrors would last so what brand are yours SJFISHER67?

Not entirely sure of the brand, but I know that they are NOT Milotec ones, I got them from Ebay but on the inside skin they do have VW stamped into the moulding. - Probably not a VW genuine product though.

Don't mean to be rude but it's probably just a Chrome Painted standard item, my current wing mirrors covers have VW numbers on them so no surprise there.

Does anyone know if passat mirrors are the same as superb mirrors ?

(as i have found some chrome mirror covers on ebay for a passat)

They look pretty much the same was wondering if anyone has tried em?

I don't agree. I think they look a bit OTT on a dark car. Chrome on silver looks much less in your face. :)

I am confident that the Passat (B5), Bora, Golf, Fabia, Octavia (old) and Superb all have the same wing mirrors.

Obviously these do not have the indicator function but the case should be exactly the same, they probably come off the same tool.

But don't the Chrome Mirrors on a Silver car just not look like they are on the car?

Could someone measure there mirrors and let me know if they measure the same as the measurments in this e-bay link:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4627088155&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Am sure they will fit just need someone to measure to make 100% sure.

Cheers

If they fit the Bora then I know they will fit the Superb, I drove a Bora and changed one of my wing mirror caps for one on the Superb.

I don't think you will have any worries with these at all.

My ones are intended for a Bora / Passat / Golf and YES they are the same!

It says one year warranty so If they start peeling or flaking I will return them.

How long have you had yours before they started flaking?

and how much did you pay?
