Squeaking ONLY over speed bumps & potholes

Forgot to list ball joints on my previous post - as I changed these too! Yet she still squeaks over bumps. -
Squeaking ONLY over speed bumps & potholes
SJFISHER67 replied to keeponrunning's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Mine started doing this a while ago, I changed the following: Lower wishbones and bushes to original OEM spec. (after trying Poly bushes - which were truly awful due to the level of vibration) Drop Links. Anti Roll Bar bushes. It is still doing it - my conclusion is now the top mounts, which are on the to do list. -
Park Assist - Does My Car Have It?
SJFISHER67 replied to steve533's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk III (2013 - 2020)
Think the easiest way to tell is if your car has additional parking sensors on the side quarters of the bumpers front and rear (facing side ways). Plus a button with picture of a steering wheel on the centre consul. -
Skoda MK2 vrs Alarm Siren Location
SJFISHER67 replied to Dodobuck's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Did they move it's location then? I replaced mine a few years back and it was at the base of the windscreen beneath the wiper arms and scuttle panel. -
I changed the reverse light switch on my Fabia earlier in the year. It was tough to remove - I removed mine to top up the gearbox oil - upon refitting, due to the old threadlock stuff on the existing switch, it went in so far and sheared clean off! In a rage i stabbed a screwdriver into the remains of it and wound it out. Now one fitted (cost about £30) from main dealer. went in like a dream, I accessed mine from the top, need a decent deep socket and take your time. Oh and be a bit of a contortionist!

Not that I recall, could still lock and unlock the car. Warning light on the door card may not illuminate or be permanent on - indicating a fault on the system.

Take the fuse board cover off, there is an icon that looks like a person running away from a sound wave. That will be the fuse to silence it. It won't stop your indicators flashing though whilst alarm is going off. Had the same issue on mine, had to replace the siren which is located under the wiper arms on the scuttle bulkhead, about £200 to replace the siren.

On my fabia - (2009 Model) I was told the amplifier was the coil bit around the aerial running the full length. But I think on the estate isn't it part of a line across the rear window or furthest rear side windows? - looks a bit like heating element - although sometimes this is for a factory fitted digital DAB aerial.

Electric window issue - strange!
SJFISHER67 replied to Ryandz's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
There is a way of 'resetting' the window switches and that is to pull both window switches to the raise position and hold it for about 7 or so seconds. This resets mine when they have a mind of their own. -
Coming Home lights function
SJFISHER67 replied to Hoppity0503's topic in Skoda Superb Mk I (2001-2008)
It's many years since I had mine, but from what I can remember. After driving at night, you turn the lights off with the switch then before you open the door, you pull the main beam flash and then they come on for 30 seconds, but only the headlights. -
The side lights for the Fabia and Roomster are a nightmare to swap with the headlight in position. I did mine, had to shift the battery on the passenger side and used some bent nose pliers to carefully grip the plastic bulb holder - not the wires and pull back firmly whilst wiggling a little. The drivers side I had to unbolt the fuel filter and move it across then do the same action. (After moving the rubber covers of course).

Replace front parkning lights 2009
SJFISHER67 replied to Auxiliary's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Maybe a little left/right wiggle to help loosen, but no full 90° twist or anything. -
Replace front parkning lights 2009
SJFISHER67 replied to Auxiliary's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk II (2007-2014)
Changed both of mine the other day. Did have to unbolt the battery and slide it to one side, and then remove the indicator bulb and holder on the nearside. Used a pair of bull nose pliers VERY carefully to latch onto the plastic housing - didn't want to pull on the wires. Bit trial and error, but did it eventually. Offside was more tricky as had to unbolt the fuel filter (I have a diesel) so not sure where fuel filter is on petrol. Then used same procedure. Fiddly as F, but upgraded the bulbs whilst at it. -
Hello, Unusual one here methinks. I have a 2009 Fabia and the sidelight on the nearside does not come on when I turn on the sidelights, but after driving for a few minutes - sometimes over a bump or something in the road it magically comes on. I have taken the bulb out and changed it, but same behaviour. I have turned on the lights and tapped the whole light unit and then the light sidelight comes on. All the other lights in the unit work absolutely fine. I have took the rubber caps off the back and wriggled the wires and nothing makes the light come on, I have also pulled off and checked the main plug connector on the back of the light and that is all clean, no green corrosion or anything. Is there an earthing point specific to the sidelight? I have checked all 5 amp fuses and they are all good. Thanks in advance to all who reply and can help!
