Parking Sensors

Featured Replies

Hi hoping for a little info

My Dad has an 2005 Octavia and the rear parking sensors are not working.

I have read many posts regarding this issue and it seems that most people mention that they hear several beeps when selecting reverse but they don't work. The display doesn't come onto the head unit until coming out of reverse. My dad's doesn't make any noise when selecting reverse and flashes up on deselecting gear.

I have checked that that the reverse lights come on, the sensors all click and I have checked inside the module for any signs of water or corrosion as he has had the rear washer pipe joint come apart. It is all dry and no signs of water.

I then stumbled across another thread about the warning buzzer. If this is not working will it stop the whole system from activating? I do have VCDS lite but it doesn't want to talk to it.

If I can't diagnose exactly I can probably buy the various parts cheaper than the diagnosis from the local Skoda dealer.

Ignition on. (Engine OFF). Put car in reverse. Put ear next to each sensor. If it makes ticking noise then it generally is OK. Identify which are silent and need replacing.

Buy these:

Remove bumper (partially) if you have tow bar fitted. If not you can sometimes reach up inside to access the sensors from below. Replace sensors.

Remove B Pillar trim below seatbelt on passenger side. Replace Buzzer.

Put car back together. Test. Fingers crossed the problem is solved.
