Anyone had problems with 3rd brake light (highline) on estate. I have just replaced the light unit with a new one and still not working. No errors on obd and just showing check light on dash. Any suggestions?

Have you checked that there is power, when the brake pedal is pressed, to the high level brake light? If not then the wires in the umbilical from the car body to the tailgate may have fractured due to fatigue. I assume that you do not have access to VCDS, Carista or OBDeleven as those would normally show a fault code and indicate which light was at fault.

I need to check the wiring into the boot. I only have an obd reader and it shows no faults even when the dash says "check 3rd brake light". To take it off you need to strip off the boot door liner all of it it's held on with metal spring clips and a couple of pop rivets and one torx screw where the handle on the inside is. 

Thanks for reply, ive had the tailgate trim off a couple of times for wiper motor. I guess the brake light then pushes out from inside?

Yeah there are 4 clips holding it in access from holes in boot. Push out and just a 2pin clip light connection.
