Octavia engine management light flashing

Featured Replies

Hi folks, looking for a wee bit of advice if possible. My 2.0tsi seems to be smoking alot and consuming alot of oil recently. No leaks visible. When the car idles for a couple of minutes the engine management light comes on. But when u pull away it goes off. Any ideas?? Cheers.

You really need to the car scanned for fault codes, the flashing EML will almost certainly have logged a fault code.

I suspect however that this is your issue...

Hi, thanks for replying. The light is still off and I drove 100 miles today. Would you still suspect it was the engine? Defo going in tomorrow to get scanned.

Its the fact its a 2.0 TSI and its consuming excess amounts of oil that led me to thinking you might be suffering from the issues identified in the linked thread above.

The flashing / intermittent EML might be related, it might not, this is why it'll be best to get those fault codes read, and report back.

If you do get hold of the codes, this website is great for telling you what they mean...

Hi, just to update. Showed up engine mis fire cylinder 2 and 4. Changed plugs and coils. And low and behold the engine management still flashes when idling. It flashed 5 times then went off. Then came back on consistently. Pulled away and it went off after 5 seconds. Cars back in garage today😢😢😢
