Red Temp warning light

Featured Replies

Dear Ream,

I have Skoda Octavia 2007, almost 1,40,000 km drives, recently did general service, on running after 50 KM, display showing red temp warning light along with long beep sound, after that I stopped the car checked coolant water lever everything it seems fine... checked with mechanic, he doesn't know about why its giving warning.... any fixing IDEA please.....

@Sarbu - I think you should check the coolant level sensor, inside the expansion bottle. If it's not covered, you'll see 2 metal prongs; give them a scrape with a flat blade screwdriver. Otherwise, the present UK price is only about £15 for a replacement.

Dear Ken,

Thank you for your quick reply , will check & let you know soon.

as Ken says it was a common problem that the "prongs" get coated and give false warnings, I used a tooth brush through the filler hole to give them a clean

I've cleaned them also with a toothbrush. Also I make sure the coolant level is at max (Thus a little more surface of the sprongs to 'connect' to the coolant).

When cold, I've noticed it more often. Have a replacement bottle in the shed, but didn't take the time to swap it yet, since its running fine so far after the last tootbrush-fix a few months ago :)
