reliable power and torque figures

Featured Replies

just been thinking, i know a RR day can be a giggle but would it not make more sense for people to compare vag-com logged bhp and lbft figures as this is more reliable and can't get messed about with by human hands to give better/worse figures :)

Indeed, and it is a very useful way of comparing mods, but the figures arent actually that accurate for BHP are they?

Hi Bengie

Logged output is purely a figure derived from engine inputs so bears little resemblance to output. Mind you, same goes for some rolling roads:rolleyes:

What parameters does vagcom log to determine power?

no idea, i know it logs engine torque some how and gives you the rpm at each torque figure so its fairly easy to work out bhp :)

Hi Bengie

Is there a sensor to measure torque or is it just a monitor on how much fuel is metered out of the injectors? Could even be monitoring throttle sensor if it is wired as a demand led system.

An engine torque sensor on board would mean that you would never need a rolling road to do the tuning work.

IIRC it's a calculated and estimated value so it would be out for say a dragon tuning box and/or analogue tuning box.

That said it will give a pretty decent idea of the way the torque & power are developed over the rev range, even if the absolute numbers are probably slightly out.

does anyone here have vag-com and a tuning box??

that would be an easy way to see if things like that are measured properly or screw up the result :)

I used to have one but the cable was faulty so it is about to get returned, had a remap (CC1) done since :)
