DPF - Differential Pressure Sensor

Had my VRS CR170 go into limp mode yesterday with DPF light on for good measure.  The DPF light has been on before but because I use the m4 everyday (JOY!) it always goes off without issue.  I did some digging around on this forum and found out about issues with the differential pressure sensor.  The part number number fitted as standard on my car is 076906051A however some forum members have bought the part number ending in B.  My question is, should I buy like for like (the part ending in A) or should I buy the sensor ending in B. 

 

Is the sensor with the part number ending in B a revised design or upgrade or is it for the facelift mk2? or something else altogether!?

Why do you want to replace what could well be a perfectly functioning sensor?

 

Have a VCDS scan done first.

I intend to replace the sensor because of the codes that came up when scanned. 

 

When the sensor is plugged in the DPF light is on, the eml light is on and the glow plug light flashes to indicate limp mode. 

 

When the sensor is left unplugged and driven there is only a code indicating that the sensor is unplugged.  The DPF mass is give or take 15%.

 

The car has been scanned with an Snapon Solus Ultra. Not quite VCDS but tells you what you need to know. Doesnt it?

 

I’d you replace the sensor it needs to be calibrated to the engine ECU.

so would you go for like for like or the other one?

Phone the dealer up and ask them for the part/part number you require, you 'should' get the right part and the latest revision.

Just to put this thread to bed.

 

Replaced DPF differential pressure sensor, changed for a Bosch one that my local motor factor had for £33 inc VAT which was considerably less than what Skoda wanted for a genuine one.  Got a friend of mine to recheck the DPF mass had dropped to just 3%! 

 

Couple of weeks later the 02 sensor (Bank 1, sensor 1(easiest one to access)) went AWOL.  The car has done 130,000 miles (90,000 in my ownership) so the sensor probably reached it expected life, covered in a thick layer of soot. Replaced with a Bosch 02 sensor, more than half the price of a OEM one. No issues since replacing either of the sensors.

 

I did plumb in the old DPF differential pressure sensor to check it wasn't the 02 sensor that was bust all along and the car went straight back into limp mode! I guess it was just unfortunate that they both went in such close succession.

 

Neither sensor has been calibrated to the car on recommendation from a current SEAT mechanic that I know, stated "its not worth the hour labour we would have to book to it, it will make no difference to the day to day running of vehicle".
