Help! Confused re parcel shelf

Hi we have just bought a 2016 yeti outdoors and our delighted with it.  Today we took our rubbish to the tip and took out the parcel shelf and put the back seats down.  On returning put the back seats up all good and put the parcel shelf back.  Then there was a gap between parcel shelf and back seats have we done something wrong or was it always there and we didn’t notice!

The seats recline into two different positions.
