My Daughter was supposed to be sitting her racing licence this summer, however, she has now had her standard driving licence revoked due to medical reasons, hopefully get it back in a month or two once the symptoms have been under control for 3 months.

In my mind, provided her condition doesn't preclude her from getting her racing licence, she is able to get her racing licence regardless of whether she has a normal driving licence or not, other wise how would Max Verstappen for example have been able to race before he was old enough to get his driving licence kind of thing.

Am I right, and she can carry on and book her course?

Cheers

Probably best to check with the organiser of the course, page 132 of the MSUK regs might give an insight.  I suspect that if your daughter has had her road licence revoked temporarily for medical reasons she would also be refused a competition licence on the same grounds.

AFIK you are quite right that there is no requirement to hold a road licence/having passed the driving test  to get a competition licence.

Good luck!

Agreed; passing a medical is a requirement for getting a race licence.

Well she can apply for her licence and await the medical if need be.  The weird thing is it doesn't affect her when she is driving, or playing football or mountain climbing or anything, it's only really when she is bored or trying to really concentrate, such as studying.

We will see what happens.  Thanks for that info, if she has to go for a medical then so be it.

Her brother can tell her what it's like, he has a DVLA one next month because he had a skull fracture 9 years ago, and hasn't seen a doctor or consultant about it since 3 months after his op to stick him back together.  So they want a medical done because he hasn't had to go to the doctor about it.  Wierd.

Cheers again.
