  1. None of my elegances have electric rear windows, my Mk1 doesn't, and neither of my Mk2's have either.
  2. TBH I have no idea what I have. I am one of those weirdos that every time I see something that fits my vehicle up for sale, I buy it, so end up with a load of spares of things that are useful/useless, easily broken, etc. I have installed the cupholder to replace the ashtray, and another box of stuff I bought had the ashtray fitting in it, so I have ended up with two of those, a couple of air boxes, etc. There are LED surround headlights there to go with it that had the tabs broken, and I am halfway through fixing. They are at the point where they can be fitted but would need some fettling to to get them right. The GT Bumper bottom, believe it or not I was waiting on someone clipping the existing one at some point before I fitted it, Lucky White Heather.
  3. Make & Model: Mk1 Fabia Elegance Colour: Wine Mileage: 147200 Price: £250 Description: Insurance company wrote it off after someone drove into the front of it, and I am moving away so have no reason to fix it other than I love it. Have held onto to it for months swithering but it is just going to rot away if it doesn't shift. It has been modified slightly but nothing outrageous, and it could definitely be fixed, or at the very least the parts including those that come with it could be used to upgrade your own. It was our spare car, so was rarely used. Other than the accident damage, it needs the rear door carriers sealed again, and the diff was starting to whine, which suited me as I was going to put a Quaife one in, and it needs a battery. Condition: Spares/Repairs Service History/Receipts/Recent Service work: Been serviced at MOT time every year and oil changes in between as long as I have had but I have no idea what actual service records are there. Extras: Mods: Mapped by Ben at Shark a few years ago, has a PD160 air intake, and a VRS exhaust from the turbo back, and VRS Back Bumper. Has Golf Alloys(I think), with a spare set, an Audi A1 interior with lapbelt installed, just needs the upholstery tidied, and if you want the heated seat working, the wiring sorted. Also comes with a Sony head unit, which needs tidied behind it(possible bracket removed to push the thing back), its one of those ones with the tom tom built in and the tom tom bit is in the gloves box and all works. Come with a whole host of spares, including a GT Front Bumper, spare vents, brand new door seal, original interior, etc., etc., and a 7 inch version of the head unit, which needs a screen, about £75 the last I looked. Shipping: £## - Optional Collection: Collection Only as I have VOR'd it. It will drive with a jump, but Pictures:
  4. Cheers Nige Looks like the Audi A1 seats are 'dumb' seats in that it's a straightforward on and off with an overheat cut off built into the heating element possibly. I'll order a couple of t6 plugs and wire it properly then see how I go. To get it working perfectly I would probably have to swap the heat pads out. Next on the hitlist is finding out why the boot carpet is wet all the time 😁. The joys of old cars. Lennie
  5. Have finally managed to get time to fit the Audi A1 seats in the Furby. Rears went in ok, but will need to do something about the upholstery gap at the rear seat release and get proper A1 seat belt fittings to reach better, but the Polo lap belt I had in the garage works just dandy, and ATM it rarely gets used, never mind having 3 people in the back. My problem is wiring up the front seats for the seat heating. My Furby has heated seats, and the A1 Seats I bought are also heated so I thought I was onto a winner, but the damned things are wired completely differently. I bought them off another chap who had modified them to fit his Fabia, but the wiring has been butchered within an inch of its life. I have managed today through alot of detective works and writing of plans to work out what all the wires or for, or so I thought. I have isolated the seatbelt pretensioner, occupancy and Airbag wires, and I am basically left with two wires, a red/white wire and a brown wire as opposed to every drawing I have seen for these seats which states that these wires stop at the plug, and it should have 5 wires for the seat heating, so I suspect the heated seat wiring has been replaced with a basic set up. On the Fabia I have four wires. I have spent the day figuring what does what and the bottom line is I am unsure whether to trust these seats as they stand. In my mind I should have at least 3 wires for the heated seats. Positive feed, and Negative Earth, which can then be split between Base and Upright, and a trigger wire for a temperature sensor, which would shut off the power. Also these Audi seats don't have a controller fitted to the bottom of the seat like the Skoda ones, but I am thinking maybe the Audi has it built into a module behind the dash or even part of the actual switch. As these have been butchered I have no idea what the wiring originally looked like. Has anyone wired up these and can confirm how the set up is on the underside? Would the seat be ok just wired to the positive and negative from the Fabia loom without the control module fitted to the bottom of the seat? Should I Fit and wire a control module to each seat like the original seat, even though I have no sensor wire? Should I strip the seat and move all my wiring and pads over from the Skoda seat to the Audi seat? All help assistance and questions are appreciated. Ta Muchly. Lennie
  6. The story is I am buying it from a friend whom I have known all my adult life. The boy is a nice boy, but unappreciative of what his parents provide for him, and therefore cares not what he does with his cars. The car belonged to his sister until 2017, when she got a new Fabia, but as he isn't looking after it, his dad has taken it off him. So I know the arse will have been ripped out it for a year, but my friend thought it had been serviced about 3 months ago, but he only asked the boys to MOT it, which they duly did. The last record they have of a proper service was December 2018. Knowing it will have been driven sore in the 12 months since then, I was hoping there might not have been much damage done other than it having sat for a few months idle. I am hoping that the noise goes away once the oil and filter has been changed, but if not and no other explanation can be found, I won't be buying it and my friend is just going to run it down to WBAC and get rid. I think that covers it 😁
  7. I bought an aftermarket one for my Caddy and wired it into a wireless remote, which only activated when the ignition is on, so no drilling required, and no battery drain. Worked quite well until the Conrod made a bid for freedom a couple of weeks ago. IIRC the usually cost about £300 fitted but not wired in.
  8. Turns out it was serviced last about 15 months ago, according to the mechanic, and the lad who has been driving it for the 12 months previous to his dad taking it off him and parking it up, isn't kind to his motors. It was only in for an MOT shortly before it was taken off the road. Going to get the oil changed and see how it fares the rest of the week. If it's still the same, better to have spent a few Bob on an oil and filter change than a couple of thousand on a duffer.
  9. You are thinking along the same lines as me that oil is draining too quickly into the sump and the oil is thinner when warm. It's not losing any, which is why I was asking in case it is unrelated to the oil system.
  10. @Roottootemblowinootsoot 2010 with 87k on the clock. I trust the mechanics to have put the right oil in ok, they have been looking after my others for over 10 years now. Ex-Seat dealership foreman owns it, and the main mechanic is ex the same dealership, so should be right enough. I might get them to change it again, as they will be doing the back brakes this week sometime. Thanks
  11. Have a 1.6cr Elegance which I am thinking if buying. Has a few issues, which are all easily fixable, such as back brakes sticking on, water pouring in the rear pressure vent, faulty window switch, nothing serious. However, if I drive it for a bit until the oil is up to temp, then stop for a wee while, say for half an hour or so, when I jump back in it and start it, it sounds like my mum's old 1990 Escort Diesel, clacking its head off. After a few hundred yards it's goes quiet again and all is well with the world. It's actually much quieter on a cold start. I am assuming it's an oil system problem. I should mention, I have another Fabia and a Caddy with the CAY engine and they don't do this, and that before I took it for a trial period, it had just been serviced by the guys that look after my car's and van so they know what they are doing. Anyone have any ideas, don't want to buy a proper lemon. Cheers Lennie
  12. You can still get 'Shark' Remaps, the I.P. was taken over by RacingLine after they closed down, and Ben moved down to their HQ, but is still overseeing the mapping, or at least he was when I had my Daughters Car and my Van mapped last year, so you can still get a 'Shark' Remap. Nearest to you would be Bridgewater or Newport probably.
  13. The ones I am looking at are around £2k, hence I am internally estimating about the same again for an engine rebuild, with a slight overhead if the turbo is buggered. If others have had it done and my guesstimate is close, then I suppose the cost of getting the DSG overhauled at the same time, or if buggered replaced with a used and overhauled unit might not be out of the question. Both cars are stated as driving, and I wouldn't consider it without test driving them then doing a bit of negotiating, if it is engine and box, then I might just wait and get one through Skoda with extended warranty as they usually have one kicking about in the network.
  14. Evening Lads & Lassies Number One Daughter has been told by the Doc to apply to get her licence back, but rather than give her her mk1 back, I was thinking of getting her a mk2, and giving the mk1 to my son, who is learning in it just now. I know alot of the history of the issues with the twincharger, hence I bought @Brimma's mk2 Replica rather than a real vrs when I was looking for one for my beloved to drive. Long story short, I am looking for one, and have come across a couple which have engine problems, a green hatch, VA11 BVO in Birmingham and a Race Blue Estate in Aldershot, WF60 KDV, in case anyone recognises the registrations and has some info. The blue one doesn't state any info in the advert, but at the low price I am assuming issues, the green one states engine knock. I am not scared of the issues, but would rather use a company well versed with the engine, rather than my normal, which is bring it up here to the garage I have been using for the past 15 years for all my cars and vans. I am considering making an offer taking account of my assumption they will need major work. Taking worst case scenario that it's a rebuild job, I would also fit some upgrades, based on Lucifers' guide, which would only be sensible. Anyone have any recommendations, and any experience and approximate costs for a rebuild? Not fussed about location, have car will travel and all that, more concerned about quality and value for money. If I take the plunge and it ends up being something much cheaper I, or rather, she will have won, and if it does need rebuilt, then it will be fresh and reliable for many years to come. Cheers M'Dears
  15. She hasn't decided yet, what she gets will depend upon what age would be easier for her to work with. She would prefer modern but she has to be able to stop the EML light coming on, as she will be running her own Software. She has her own MK1 Fabia, but is currently unable to drive, and is an Automotive Engineering Graduate, so is putting her spare time into something productive until she finds out about being able to drive again, which probably won't be until after the new year. I am thinking along the lines of maybe a felicia or similar as a mule, maybe even a pickup, although to be honest if she was going old school, I would prefer she got something like a MK1 Golf, or even better a MK1 Astra, or an Early 80's Audi 80 Sport. She will probably go for something like a pick up or a beetle or something. Actually rear engined would probably suit her needs better.
