Octavia Air Co

Featured Replies

Dear All,

Following my recent purchase of an 07 Diesel VRS I took a gamble knowing the air con wasn’t working, turned out it needed a new condenser and compressor...

Checkout the condition of the condenser...😲

The chap who fixed it apparently does a number of Octavia’s and Golfs, commenting on the pain to remove it though...

So I’m finally ice cold, just as we turn into Autumn...

Just about to order some from eBay...

definitely a bargain compared with the cost of a new condenser...

No.

I've just had mine looked at too, and thankfully it only ended up being the compressor clutch! Definitely dodged a bullet.

Mk2 FL Diesel. After 240k kms there was absolutely no friction material left on the poor thing.

The one on the 1.6 TDi Denso compressor does.

The only on I have ever seen or heard of then. Compressor technology moved on with the Octavia II in 2005 when they went to a variable displacement compressor, odd.

I've seen quite a few of them actually. Here's a video showing it on a Golf with the same set up:

Interesting, that style of compressor stopped with the MK4 Golf, MK1 Octavia (A4 platform) here, wonder if it is a regional thing?

The variable compressors haven't been the most reliable of things, maybe they went back to old tech for NZ.

Everyday is a school day.

Who knows, VW is wacky sometimes.

That video is of the shear plate on a Sanden (or other) variable displacement compressor, not a clutch.
