Diesel CR Engine cutting out

Featured Replies

HI

I hope someone would be able to provide any help-advice with my Engine issue on a 2012 vRS Diesel.

A Long story short

Unable to start from semi cold end July this year, Coil light & engine management flashing taken to local Skoda dealer who replaced the Fuel pressure sensor and seal.

Ran fine for 6 weeks (around 1000+ miles covered)

Last Monday Start from cold it ran for a few hundred yards then cut out, able to restart and get home after a few more cutouts.

Taken to same local dealer who ran & drove it, seemingly without a problem.

They believe it's a wiring issue.

Picked it up again today and it ran fine for 40-45 mins and then it cutout on a roundabout.

Unable to restart & the management light stays on, also the power steering light was red.

Has anyone come across a similar issues or if there are any (most) likely candidates for the source of the fault, anyone good at looking for a needle in a haystack?

Thanks In advance, it's not ready for the bin yet!

When you tried to restart the engine was the cranking speed low? Red power steering light can come with low battery voltage.

Best action is to get a VCDS scan for codes and history.

In the meantime you could check for alternator/wiring faults and monitor the battery voltage.

Thanks,

Cranking speed was ok, I had tried a few times with a few minutes gap to restart (to get it back to the garage) when the Power steering light came on. shortly after the battery was drained so I was towed the few hundred yards back to the dealer.

Didn't they do any diagnostics on it?

The dealer and the AA found codes with the fuel pressure sensor, they tested it and didn't find a fault with it (which is good as it's 6 weeks old) They did leave it running and I know they put some miles on the clock.

They believe it's a wiring issue so I asked for a quote to replace the engine loom and a rough guess was £2-2.5k, they think it's just a case of finding the wire at fault, hopefully some more definitive codes have been logged this time.

I do love driving it so I don't want to give up too soon without it being a money pit.
