Car required, where to find?

Featured Replies

Hello you knowlagable bunch!

I'm in the market for a Estate Superb, I was hoping for a MKII varient. From what I've herd the 1.9 PD is the engine is the one to go for but when I look on trader there seems to be only 1 for sale In the whole of UK!? I was after a manual just to keep things simple but not essential, as many optional extras or as high as spec as possible is desirable.

I'm just wondering should I hopd out a few months or don't they really come up for sale?

Are the 2.0 diesels not as reliable then?

Kind regards,

1.9 PD is old dinosaur - who told you it is one to go for ? Because of lack of DPF in early models ?

I'm not sure about petrols - there were/are serious problems with 1.8 tsi - but 2.0 tdi CR is brilliant - especially, when beefed up ;)

4x4 + DSG is also VERY nice addition ;)

Rather steer away from sunroof ;) and electric boot ;)

Go for estate/combi - looks better ;) and is more practical ;)

As above, the 1.9 TDI PD105 has a very good reputation for being bulletproof, but the trade off being that it is now very old. It was unrefined and agricultural 10 years ago! It is also only 5 speed.

The later 2.0 TDI CR140 or CR170, whilst more complex (common rail) has also proven itself to be a very reliable engine, with the added bonus of being much more refined, and 6 speed.

There is no avoiding DPF's now. If your annual mileage is low, then go petrol.

I saw this one on Autotrader last week, it is only up the road from me in York. I was sorely tempted to chop-in my Mercedes E-Class for it!

All the car you'll need, and more...
