I've just bought a '59 plate Octavia with 1.4TSI 122bhp engine. I've read all the horror stories about the timing chain issue but also that if well looked after and serviced regularly (as this one has been) then it's probably unlikely to cause issues.

 

Since buying it i have become paranoid about the engine sounds so thought I'd post on here to hopefully get some advice on if it sounds normal. It does 'chatter' for a second or 2 when cold, which i understand is normal, but now I've convinced myself that it's noisier when ticking over after a half hour drive.
