When cold and starting up engine fires up fine but then all the electrics disappear. Dash blank..no indicators.. steering.. nothing 

 

Drove to me nearby garage and suddenly all electrics came back but no fault codes showed.

 

As car is a taxi it was working fine throughout the rest of the day.

 

However exactly the same happened this morning.

 

I did have a new alternator a few days ago.

 

Getting it back to garage later today but any thoughts?

To " @Andyp " - It sounds like a faulty relay but I do not know which one 😞

It turned out that it was a faulty alternator which was generating too much voltage.

 

This was a pattern part so my mechanic has no wfitted had a genuine VW/Skoda supplied one... havent got the bill yet for this as yet!

 

He is charging the supplier for labour to fix this.
