Replace lost key

Featured Replies

Has anyone had to replace a lost key. Is there anywhere I can go or is it a  dealership job.

It's a dealership job as it has to be programmed for the car. I believe the car needs to be connected online to VAG for programming keys.

It's always important to ensure you're getting two keys when buying a used car these days!

If you still have one key you should contact a locksmith that does cars they may be able to clone your current key for less money than the dealer will charge. I had one done for my sons slightly older polo it was £60 guy came out cut key and cloned chip in about 20 mins.

Some of the Timpsons key cutting/shoe repair places do car keys with the programming etc. Mother in law had hers done recently in the Sainsburys she shops at, and its alot cheaper than a dealer.
