Farther-in-law's Superb 1.9tdi auto elegance is due it's first 2 year 20,000m service soon, what sort of cost is he looking at?

I take my car to JBS Auto Designs as its cheaper than the nearest dealer, even though its slightly further for me to travel.

JBS use genuine Skoda parts so your warrenty is not affected, so if one is near you, it may be worth considering..

Just a thought if you live near one of them...?

If you should want to stick with a main dealer, try phoning all dealers within a sensible reach to compare prices. Then contact your preferred/local dealer and ask them to match the price.

my 20,000 service was only wks ago....i was quoted £245 from main dealer i bought it from in glasgow :eek:

phoned my local one in ayrshire....£195.

phoned skoda uk & spoke to manager... and asked if my new superb HAD to have its first service ( and future services) by a skoda main dealer so as to keep warrenty intact...

reply was...........

no...as long as the garage is vat registered and uses GENUINE skoda parts...they can stamp your warrenty book & service it no probs....

so......my 20,000 service cost me £68 incl parts AND labour.

Yeah because a main dealer has no overheads, no training costs and nothing is spent on special tools and experianced VAG staff.

take it you work for a main car dealership then ?

otherwise you would be in the same frame of mind as myself and MILLIONS of other people up and down the uk.

why pay over the odds when you dont have to ? :confused:

warrenty intact...car kept in A1 cond... servicing cost to minimum..what the hell is wrong with those 3 things ?

it was on variable service ....so i was told....

it will now get serviced every 10,000 miles as it is a taxi....

still rip off merchants ....ALL OF EM..not just skoda

Im curious how they can do a 2 hr service inc the correct oil for a PD engine for £68.

The oil costs the min £20 on its own if you go for a cheaper brand. Oil filter is about £8 and a pollen filter is around £10.

That leaves £30 labour, naffing cheap labour rate that.

Servicing charges on cars by main stream dealers are nothing to the "real" taxi rates near me;) its much cheaper to use private hire with beat up old cars.

but this was pointed out to me by HIM !! so i canny see him using the wrong oil or any part as to fook up my warrenty or anything else.....
