help got eeprom login problems

hi new to the forum but on my 2nd vrs mk1

got a friend to do led clock conversion 

bin trying to get the eeprom of my original clocks to swapover the imo to the new clocks as the original had jumping needles everytime he trys to login it to the eeprom with the login code it wont do it even though its the right code as he has done the same on the new clocks with no issues 

i have searched the forums and found nothing to help 

also ive got a engine control module fault so the eml is on 

hope someone can help or has an idea what the issue might be
