Frameless rear view mirror

Featured Replies

Hi all, new member hear! Took delivery of our quartz grey metallic SE-L a few days ago and loving it! That is except the rear view mirror, it seems unreasonably small, and made worse so by the large casing. Has anyone tried fitting any of the VAG frameless mirrors? Just curious, I thought I'd try the Superb one for ours!

Fitting one might stop th auto dimming working I don't find it  small I can see out off all the back window

Swapped it with a Superb mirror, auto dimming is still functional and looks much smarter. Other half prefers the larger mirror area too which was the original issue, so all in all not bad for £70!

Should have been fitted as standard, no reason to not have them in 2020.

Congratulations, IMO you just invalidated your car warranty also. Granted, one mirror change will not break your engine for example, but you just replaced a by-design electric item with another, from another car.

If you get a problem that requires warranty services, you might be on the losing side.

Whatever you say mate 🙃

Apart from the fact that I've chated with my dealer who said no issue (and parts are listed as compatible on VAGs system), the mirror connection is pinned the same. Worst comes to worst, replace it with the original mirror 🤷‍♂️

Hope so, I've seen even country's official Ford importer trying to evade legal responsibilities with my own car (with no replaced mirrors).
