Water retention in doors

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm having same water retention issues on Kamiq drivers door, I'm going to dealer for first 12 month service tomorrow along with video of rain water pouring out of drain holes, hopefully I won't be fobbed off an they are aware of this problem.

Hi Wozza67, I guess you'll be dealing with the local Skoda guys in Lancaster. That's where I took my Kamiq but they didn't really do anything. Please post the result of you mentioning the water in doors, I'm interested to know what they say.

Its normal and not a problem all depend if you park up hill or down open doors drain out. Drains during normal driving. There is no drain hole at the front only middle and rear. My Last Kamiq done it and this one

Been to Skoda Morecambe for service today, they say its normal for it to drain out of bottom of the door, but couldn't say where rain was getting in, Kamiq been parked allday at work on the flat and  no water draining, maybe I should move house with a level drive!!!

, They said inner door skin wax lined so water won't cause any harm 😂

It causes no harm to Dealership Staff.

They have a car washer doing the cars almost every day and opening the passengers door and letting the water out.

If you happen to have freezing weather for a while and are the kind that uses warm water to clear windows, or the car sits for nights and days with snow, then defrosting and freezing for a few days then remember to open the passengers door.

The thing is the Engineers and designers might have cars built that lets water passed seals and into and out the bottom of doors,

but they never meant the water to be stored in the doors if they are left unopened.

Starting at minute 3:28 he explains how water gets inside the doors and thats it os normal for all the cars.

The issue is brand new and nearly new cars and poor quality control and the seals fitted on the production line.  If cleaning drain holes is a General care and maintenance job for owners then there will be as section in the owners manual.  If a periodic requirement then that can be another 'option' main dealers can offer with services or they could include in Extended Scope.
