Lowering springs or coilovers on a MK2 Fabia anyone?

Featured Replies

Just interested if anyone has lowered or coilovered there mk2 Fabia and was it worth the money in the case of coilovers? If you just lowered with springs then is it as good or better than stock? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

I would imagine lots of people have done it since the Mark 2 uses most of the same chassis components as the Mark 1 and kits are readily available.

The question is, do you want to go faster or just look faster?

Well a low car always looks nice but no I'm interested in cornering. I've heard that if you go coilovers don't go for the cheap one as you would be better off with stock set up. Having said that I had a MK2 golf years ago and put a set of lowering springs and new shocks on it and it made a hell of a difference to the way it handled. Still that was long time ago and thing have moved on since then.

You do not say what stock is.

Is it a Monte Carlo tsi or tdi or a vRS? Or another flavour of Fabia that is stock?

The good Coil Overs might well be 'better' than the standard suspension and not good coilovers.

A rear ARB with the stock suspension might well feel better and handle better as well. Also a ARB with the Coil Overs.

Loads of lowering threads and picture threads on here if you do a search.

Loads of modified MK2 Fabia in the project section as well since 2010.

It's a Monte TDI 2012. I'm doing the rear break disc upgrade so thought it would make sense to get some spring chucked on at the same time! wouyld love some coilovers but its about £600 if your going for good ones.

It's about £300 to replace the worn out standard coilovers with a fresh standard setup, do you want to upgrade or not?

Just replacing the springs doesn't make any sense since you have to dismantle the front struts anyway.

Have you got a budget in mind?

I could stand to spend 500 to 600 if it made the car corner like it were on rails

Lowering springs on standard shocks are never going to give the 'best' ride quality. For your budget you could get a good quality coilover kit, something like the AP kit is a popular choice.
