Octy Pricing

Featured Replies

Was in the now local dealers Claybank in Eccles the other morning just reading through the literature as they check the Flywheel on my Car. Had a look at the Black Magic vRS they have in the showroom. But was amazed to see how much the prices on the Octy II have rised since I bought mine back in December 2004. To get mine same spec now with the extras is nearly

I don't think that anyone actually pays a list price nowadays, do they?.

You do if you went to Gornors, Saleman told me at the time they could only sell at list and he wasn't allowed to discount. No wonder they're no longer in Business.

Is there any future for dealer sales other than fleet cars? with Internet & Carsupermarkets knocking £4K ish off list.

Depends on wether you have a decent trade in or not I suppose

There are still a lot of people that don't like haggling and will just pay list price for cars. Equally for each of them theres someone else who will expect a significant discount.

Car supermarkets and net brokers are still viewed with suspicion and there is a general perception that they will completely shaft you on the trade in value of your car which puts a lot of people off.

I didn't even ask for a discount on mine but got one. I phoned Derek Slacks in Middlesbrough and told him I needed three quotes on the same car for my MD, he faxed over a quote on my Octy with £1000 knocked off straight away. The other quotes had £750 off and £800 off IIRC.

I went to Autosales in Canock on New Year's Eve, said I wanted to buy an L&K Octy at the What Car target price, and told them what the Glass's Guide website said my Golf GT TDI was worth. They met my price to change without a quibble - tho I did then add some options at the list prices!
