I have very little general knowledge about cars so was wondering if you think anything is up...

 

My engine coolant warning light came up yesterday telling me to fill it up, however it was only done around 2 months back now.

 

Is that normal or something up perhaps?

 

I have an 18 plate Octavia MK3 vRS230 TSI.

Have you checked the coolant level?  Has it dropped?  Either way, your car is under warranty - get it booked in and checked out.

Yes, usually a failing expansion tank cap - these are known to fail.  Try getting a new one from theskodashop.co.uk - Hortons Skoda and see if that fixes your problem.
