  1. Th That's how it's set up. All normal. Turn the key to the start position and release. The glow plugs do their thing and when it's ready the starter kicks in. No further input from you is required.
  2. If you can't charge the battery, can you get it jump started?
  3. This is the best advice, quick and easy. I'd have to do this if my car was in my garage with the passenger door almost touching the wall.
  4. If you are using the sat nav now, it means you have an original Skoda card. Only Skoda cards will work. You can download the new map update from the Skoda website, delete the old files from the card (back them up 1st) and install the new files.
  5. Look under the bonnet to see if there is a servo.
  6. Used the wrong term. No letter, just told about it when it went in for a service at a main dealer. Should have been a recall in my opinion to avoid more expensive claims for damaged gearboxes.
  7. Yes. I did have it done. That's what I meant by the recall.
  8. Mines on 65,000 miles. Only had the recall work done on it. Faultless.
  9. I'm on my original battery and S/S is always used, so have to disagree with your statement about a shortened battery life. I go along with your other point re coding.
  10. You seem to be well looked after insurance wise. I'd have thought the insurance company would want it repaired as soon as possible to avoid more expense. At the moment it seems you're just looking at a new mechatronic unit which is already not cheap. For them to say it's ok to drive it with the risk of having to pay out considerably more, is to me unheard of. In the Uk they always do their best to pay out as little as possible.
