Just lately I have noticed that when my drivers door mirror opens, after unlocking the car, the motor continues to whirr beyond the fully open position for 5 secs or so. Any ideas please ?

Ours did same and was replaced under warranty.

It was approximately 2 1/2 years old 

Thank you. Our car is less than 2 years old so hopefully should be covered.
