Does anyone here know anything about ATVs? I'm looking at buying a quad for our small holding. The budget is tight but the local machinery center has a Kayo Jackal 150 for sale. They seem too cheap to be true. Does anyone by chance have one?

No experience of them, but I saw them @Inverurie Garden Machinery.  Looked OK.

At least you have a Dealership near.  I take it you are not going to buy online from further afield.

It would not of been man (woman) enough for my needs when i used quads to tow offroad.

I used to run bigger quads but went to using a Suzuki Jimny pickup instead.

Yeah if we bought one it would be from there. Not sure if they deliver yet as not had a reply. Hoping to get to see one in the flesh soon. Hoping to use it for carrying bales, doing a bit of work on the veg field and possibly clearing the snow off the track of its any good for any of that

You can do all that with a cut down Jimny, sit with a good heater on and also nip up and down the road and into town.

Worth checking out the likes of a 2nd hand KAP Suzuki Jimny Pickup.

The new owner of my old one fitted a new bigger rear to it.

I suspect if it's cheap it's a Chinese brand so will be a bit of a hit or a miss. Probably not up to doing proper work and more likely a 'toy' quad.

This seems like a fair balanced article on Chinese ATVs in general - https://www.thejunkmanadv.com/is-a-chinese-off-brand-atv-for-you.html

Jimnys hold their money pretty well, probably a bit too well.

If you're not too fussy maybe something like a Dihatsu Terios would do the job cheaply? They do have permanent 4x4 with a centre diff lock.
