Inspection service

Featured Replies

Hi guys. I've got a 2019 Octavia 2.0 TDi DSG which I've had since new on a lease. It's on the variable servicing interval and the computers telling me it's due an oil change service at 18700 miles and an inspection at 20000 miles. Presumably this would just mean getting the inspection service done at 18700 miles which is when the oil change is due. I just wanted to pick your brains regarding what this should cost - I got the lease deal direct through the local Skoda dealership and the supplying dealer is quoting me approx £350 for the service whilst another nearby Skoda dealership is quoting me £250. Any ideas what should be roughly the correct price please? I appreciate labour rates vary slightly between different areas but £100 seems a big difference!

I have a 2019 Octavia 1.5 DSG. Like you, I was not sure what service was required, or the price. My car says the same as yours, oil service at 18700 and an inspection at 20000. I spoke to three dealers, and the quotes ranged from £221 to £330 so I am not sure they know either. I have booked it in for the £221 service and they say

"An Oil Change Service as a standalone repair is £182.54 including VAT. An Inspection Service as a standalone repair is £65.40 including VAT". To do the 2 service items at the same time we charge a figure of £221.78 including VAT

I am having both done at 18700 miles as it saves a little money.  I find the way Skoda schedule servicing very confusing. I am on the variable servicing as I do 25000 miles a year, and the garage could not clearly explain what will be needed at the next service.

Thanks for your reply. I would prefer to use the supplying dealer as they were great to deal with when we ordered the car, however £100 is a big difference! I'll give them another call to see if they can match the price. I would have thought the inspection service should include an oil change anyway, like you say it's a bit confusing!

A 2 year old car getting a variable service or even the 2nd service if on a fixed regime is just getting an oil and inspection service and the extra at 2 years is a pollen filter.  Any dealer overcharging on what used to be called a Major service is taking the pith.    The 3-10 year old Fixed servicing prices for an oil and filter service and the Extended Scope is another mater.      Separate oil serviced and Inspection Services is not required.
