Hi,

 

I have a vrs which I love but what let's it down is the mediocre sound system, I love my music and the quality of the sound needs to be good. Has anyone had their system re-done and put decent speakers etc in and if so what was the rough cost and improvement? 

 

Can I just switch out the speakers and amp etc or is it more complicated. 

 

Any help is mostly appreciated.

While you're planning the upgrade, try fading out the rear speakers. This improved the sound quality significantly for me 👍

If you're just missing  a little 'oomph' then see here:

 

If you want a significantly better overall sound then you're into a lot more - starting with soundproofing and probably getting a professional aftermarket install. Probably not worthwhile.

 

It's a relatively noisy car.

Not needed - two things to fix the MIB system:

 

1) Get the latest firmware version for your Amunsden system - sound from 0468/0472 is weak and poor.  0478 fixes this.

2) Enable up Skoda Surround (and Virtual Base) (to be done after a 0478 update)

I have 0478 but cannot find any sound options for virtual base. Where can I find it.

If you look for VCDS options for Skoda Surround or Virtual Surround (you'll find this info on @SashaGrace
Octavia VRS thread, you will find the info there.

 

Skoda Surround is 5F Byte 11 change to Hex 04 and reset MIB system.

If it has been enabled, it is in Media->Settings->Sound

I had assumed it was a new feature of firmware 0478, not a VCDS tweak. Thanks for the info.
