I got a copy of this as a kid and have always enjoyed it, though it's way out of date now.

Does anyone else have a copy of this classic?

A modern update of this book would be fantastic, but I doubt the AA will be producing one.

Anyone know of an up to date alternative to match it?

I had one to help me with my first car in 1972 - excellent book, saved me £££'s I didn't have.

My parents gave me a first edition (the one with the engine-turned cover) for Christmas in 1970.

It was probably the most fascinating and informative book I've ever read. 

It enabled me to maintain cars I would not otherwise have been able to afford to run.

It's such a good book, I really wish they'd update it.
