Spilt coffee in the defroster duct, please help!

Featured Replies

So, as the title states, a small amount of coffee entered the front window defroster ducting of my MK 2 Skoda Fabia at the weekend. Whenever I run the A/C or heating now it smells like French vanilla latte and off milk (very unpleasant). I have no idea how to improve this situation now frankly!

The cabin air filter doesn't smell of the coffee so I don't think it has gone this far. I have been looking at technical diagrams of the A/C and heating system of the Fabia but have no idea where this liquid might have settled. It is in such an awkward position I assume some of the dash will be need to removed etc unless I can access anything via the engine bay?

If anyone could offer some advice that would be much appreciated, even if that entails cutting my losses and taking it to a garage for them to deal with it.

Many thanks.

Drink real coffee, and not "coffee flavoured drinks". ;)  Beyond that, someone is going to have to take the relevant ducts (and probably half the fascia) apart.

In my defense it was my partners drink! But I did assume that would be the case sadly.

My guess is that it will dry out quickly and the smell will get less with time. Try using one of those car bombs, that go in the car to clean the a/c
