Heater blower not working

Featured Replies

Hello all , I am sure I read another thread about this issue and if it is already listed , I'm sorry I couldn't find it again .

I have a 2010 fabia with climatronic ac , the display works fine , if you adjust the temperature,  the fan speed adjusts on the screen .

However the fan isn't working , so air is coming through the vents , I was advised this could be the screen ( control unit ) itself,  I have replaced it and still the same issue .

I want to confirm before I take the dash out to replace the fan motor , I read these cars with climatronic don't have resistors , is this true ??

And is my only cause of action to replace the motor now ??

is there a test I can run on wiring etc , oh and I have checked the fuse , and that appears the be fine .

Many thanks

Adi

The resistor is part of the fan itself, I believe and to change the fan is a dash-out job. Genuine fans are quite expensive and labour will be a fair chunk so expect a bill of close to £500. You might find a cheaper alternative on some of the motor factor sites or a second hand one, but be sure to get the correct fitment. Be sure to check the fuse for there fan first or have someone test the fan.

Hello , turns out it was the resistor that was faulty , thanks for the help guys

...So did you manage to change the resistor, or the whole fan?

I tested the resistor first by replacing that and the old fan worked , but I changed the fan aswell , as I don't really want to strip out the dash again

Sorry to piggyback on this, but my fan has recently packed in, and symptoms seem to be the same i.e. climatronic "works" i.e. make it hot and cold, but no force through the vents.

Did you do the dash removal completely (i.e. steering wheel off), or did you do what I've seen on Youtube where you loosen it enought to get it out without removing the whole dash?

Thanks

I am guessing the OP stripped out the dash as they stated they "Don't really want to strip out the dash again".

Sorry , only just seen your message , yes I stripped out the complete dash

As an aside, I am guessing you may be a driving instructor? If so, how do you find the Fabia?
