There’s a skip lorry at my door ……

Featured Replies

….. aka Big Red Bear.

A family member with a van is unable to rendezvous with me this weekend so my 5 builder sacks of cuttings from my laurel hedge were cluttering my doorstep. With rain forecast for tomorrow I was very keen to keep them dry and delivered to local council dump asap.

So it was seats all down, old blanket in place and my dear wife helped me hump all 5 bags into the bear.

I’ve only carried 3 bags in the past and honestly didn’t expect to get all 5 in.

In fairness, the bags are not full to the brim, but were evened out to equal weights so that I (sorry we) could actually lift them.

Now all set for an early trip to the dump.

Then tomorrow pm, car will flip into 6 seat mode as I head with offspring No.2 and family to Scotland’s No.1 Race Track for some motorised entertainment followed by fireworks.

Good old Kodiaq I say.

Just done exactly the same thing with mine.

It's a brilliant all round car.  That's why I am in the process of replacing it with another Kodiaq. :)

It is hard to find better value for money - meaning size and comfort and specification.

Unfortunately, it’s not quite as clear cut as it was when the Kodiaq was first launched. I’d agree it’s still difficult to find better… but the cost has gone up by a not insignificant amount and it feels like the base specification on some trims isn’t as generous as it once was.

It has.

Penny pinching like replacing the safety lights in the doors with reflectors and removing the carpet in gloveboxes is ridiculous.

The wheels that were standard on the SEL 2 years ago are now only available on the L&K.

That said you can't blame the VAG group for making changes.  The price/spec/brand offerings were all over the place.

When I was looking 3 years back the price was  SEAT>VW>SKODA  (but by a very small margin for all of them)

Quality was  SKODA>VW>SEAT

I just “built” an SEL online with 19” Triglav wheels that have been standard on SEL since day 1 in 2017.

Annoying that the SatNav is £900+ in 2021 though.

SEL std wheels used to be Sirius, with Triglav as a no cost option.

Satnav is standard I thought, but on the Admunsen not the Columbus (as it used to be).

As a current owner of the Columbus I consider the buttons on the Admunsen to be an upgrade!
