New battery does it require coding Octavia 2010 1.6 TDI non Stop/start

Featured Replies

I have just fitted a new battery to my Octavia 2010 1.6 TDI Greenline non stop/start. I have plugged in VCDS and cannot recode as not a option or am I missing something . Is it right that the battery does not need re-coding on this model. ??.

The standard 1.6 model like mine does not need coding as it is not stop start. I thought the Greenline had stop start and hence needs the code supplied with the new battery to be entered.

What type of battery was fitted initially?

Do you have a sense wire fitted in the negative connector to the battery? If so you have energy recovery into the battery and need the type of battery used with stop start.

If not then a standard battery can be used for which there is no code to be entered.

Your stop start function may have been permanently switched off by a previous owner or is faulty but you will still need the original style battery to be used if you have the sense wire.

No sense wire fitted to the negative battery terminal so no coding for the battery.

Thank you for the response
