Electric tailgate problem

Featured Replies

Elec tailgate failing to open / close, clicking noise, opens 5/6 inches only. Similar to other posts. Found on Ateca forum that wires inside the rubber grommet on RH side above the strut, had snapped , looked at mine and one had snapped, one was about to, faffed about trying to loosen roof lining at rear, gave up. Cut the rubber convoluted tubing and soldered the broken wires together. Bit awkward but possible with care and a small soldering iron, tried it and it worked. Other posts have said it cost approx £400 to repair! Try this before visiting dealer. I had to rubber glue the tube together but managed it with some tie wraps. Will add pics.

I have exactly the same fault. There's a thread here about it, and it looks as though the best answer is to replace the wires. https://www.karoqforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=958. To do that you really want to unplug the wiring so you can take the whole thing out to get at it; the plug is somewhere behind the trim around the rear quarterlight. The challenge will be trying to get inside the internal trim without snapping off some vital bit of plastic.

Does anyone here know how to remove the trim inside the car near where the roof structs fix on?

I've had the same. sadly after repairing successfully a couple of times the wires are now too short to do for the 3rd fix. has any one found a replacement. I'm loathe to go down the second hand route for same broken wire issues. Skoda OEM are £655 (gulp) has anyone bought/recommend a pattern replacement please. There are a few ranging from £75-150 but would welcome any experiences. many thanks

Bought these past month, working well so far. Easy enough to fit once you've removed the internal panelling. Left strut Right Strut

Thanks. I note they are different prices. Good to have a back up if repair fails again.
