Just Saying Hi from my TDi.

Featured Replies

Evening all.

As per just dropping a quick intro.

Purchased my 13 plate 1.6TDi sept 2021 and have enjoyed almost a years trouble free motoring.....free bar getting side swiped by a 35 tonner and we all loved to tell the tale thanks to Will (my cars name), he was pretty mullered but nowt keeps a good guy down for long, so my plan now is to get him down lol....a little lower, just ordered a set of Eibachs and some  Bilstein B4s all round.

From Wolverhampton so 'ow am ya?'

Cheers all.

I'd be careful of fitting B4's with lowering springs.  You might take them outside their standard operating range.  They're intended as an OEM replacement.

I fitted them to my old Mk5 Golf and they improved the ride and handling but that was on the standard VW Sport suspension springs.

Indeed, I've been in two minds, I've only gone for -30mm springs, having done some Google-fu and spoken to a few people/places OEM stuff they reckon should be peachy on 30mm, the B4's being OEM replacement I thought they'd be a good switch, current original ones are still in good nick and am just swapping as a matter of course whilst I've got it apart. I read somewhere (might have been awesome GTi....don't quote me) that you could even push them to -40mm, no thanks lol. I'd love to go -40 or even more but want to keep it comfy and at  40 mucking about with shortened drop links will probably be a thing. If it wasn't  my true daily we'd get him reet down. Tbh I'm dreading doing the job, Will is fully recovered I've still got some catching up to do. MK5 Golf is massively underrated, you still got it?

I bought it new in 2008.  I had planned on keeping it forever. So after having it remapped to 210 bhp and 330 lbs-ft, fitting the Bilsteins and an anti-lift kit and replacing the plastic flap BMN inlet manifold with a BKD one,

I was seduced by something else and sold the Golf to a friend.
