Gearbox leak

Featured Replies

At the last service - oil change and inspection - I've been informed of a gearbox leak. Car is 2014 Tdi 80k miles. Dealer charge will be £100 an hour to inspect then repairs on top. I'm expecting to change the car in a year anyway. Any advice?

Welcome to the forum.

First 30 minutes of a diagnosis is £60 with Skoda Fixed Servicing and maintenance at participating dealers.

Did their Inspection part at the Oil & Inspection Service not let the tech see where the leak was?

My Advice,

go to an independent garage, a VW / Skoda specialist, or someone not blind, and blind greedy and get them to look and give an opinion and an approx cost to repair,

or not repair.

I'm guessing they didn't specify where from on the gearbox?

I mean you can pretty much diagnose a gearbox oil leak in 10 seconds, its only got a handful of places it can leak from.

FOr me there should be no diagnosis fee for said work.

As other, go to a local independent specialist, not a Skoda main stealer.
