Non 4x4 tow bar on a 4x4?

Featured Replies

There's a mk3 tow-bar on eBay at the moment but its for as front wheel drive one,

Just how different are the 4x4 ones to the fwd ones?

e.g would it fit?

Knowing how they fit I would say no difference at all.

The floorpan differences are all some way ahead of the rear of the chassis rails where the towbracket fixings are.

Are there different towbars for the 4x4?

If so then maybe I'm talking rubbish.

I know there are 2 different types of swan neck from my research so far one seems suitable for carrying bike racks but the other not other than that not sure.

There are two different variants from what I can see but it's not FWD vs 4x4, instead, it seems to be split between the Scout and everything else. At a guess, it's likely to be ride hight related?

Assuming you have a 4x4 which isn't a Scout, I think you want 5E0092155:

Whereas the Scout would need 5E9092155 which does look to have different rails:

What makes you convinced that the towbars on Ebay are for the FWD variant only?

Editted, I had not seen Langers response, - well spotted!

only that it was attached to a fwd estate. it's for a 4x4 elegance which has only slightly raise ride height compared to a standard one.

also the bar on eBay is an aftermarket one not genuine skoda
