How to find out the what is my gearbox model (Octavia)?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Sorry if it is a stupid question, but I am having a hard time to find out what is the model of the gearbox in my car.

Just bought a 2.0 TDI DSG Octavia and to be honest I wasn't very aware of all the issues with DCTs from VW (my first automatic).

I read that all 2.0 TDI DSGs are equipped with a wet clutch, which I believe would be the dq381? I understand that the dq200 dry clutch is limited to 250 nm of torque, but checking my car details (it is the 85kw model), the torque is exactly at 250 nm.

I am concerned about durability and I understand that the wet clutch would be more durable since the crawl forward would not necessarily bite the clutch, but only utilize fluid coupling.

If you have any information to share, I really appreciate!

Thank you!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think all 2.0 engines have wet clutch DSG. Don't know the exact model, but that's what I've gathered from similar topics on this forum.

It will be a DQ381 just because that is what they are.  DQ200,s have never been used with 2.0 TSI or TDI.   Actually that might be wrong as far as some Golf 2.0 TDI 110ps.    I never checked as it was a PITA that could not pull away in D and needed in S if not to cause vehicles behind to rear end me.

Edit. Ps.  Actually since you are in Ireland / EU you had best find the code for the gearbox.  Just incase they did do then with a DQ200.   Sorry for my bum steer.

Hi Pete. Please can you confirm my DSG Gearbox model? The engine code is DFFA or do you need the full VIN? Many thanks, Michael
