Thinking of doing the service myself!

Featured Replies

Hi.

I own a 2007/07 1.6 16v automatic (non DSG) Roomy and it's touching 90,000.

I am thinking of doing the service myself....

Any tips please? And what needs to be changed etc....

Also how to tell the car its had the service etc (I.e. reset the service icon etc)

Thanks in advanced

Read one of the many threads on here on how to re-set the Service Indicator.  There are different ones and different ways.

Have you serviced cars before, if so then you do everything and especially stuff many main dealers dont.

I take it you are leaving the Tiptronic gearbox alone and not changing ATF.

Spark Plugs.

Air & PollenFilter.

Brake Service,

Check brake fluid for H2o, tester,

Check Anti Freeze / Summer coolant check.

Prep everything for winter, locks, hinges, door seals etc. Check tyres when wheels off the car.

Thanks for this toot 👊🏻

I haven't personally done a service for years....

Talking about the triptronic gearbox.... is there any dipstick (in the engine) to check the level etc? Been told it never needs a oil change? (Bit odd)  as it's a non DSG.

Been quoted 150-300 to chanhe the gearbox oil.

Thanks again

Who quoted that, and do they know these cars. Or these gearboxes?

In 2007 they were supposedly 'SEALED FOR LIFE'  which they were not, but there was no Service Schedule then around 80,000 miles people thought this can not be right.

There might be mention now of 100,000 oil changes.

Best leave alone if it works well IMO.               Your fuel filter might do with replacing.
