Hi all, I have attempted a search but didn't get anywhere. 

 

What's the oil type for a 2018 vRS 245? The handbook doesn't tell me and online retailers are contradicting eachother.

VW 508.00 for a 245

 

You are fine with Oil to VW504 00 / 507 00.  so 5w 30 FS III or 0w 30 FS III if topping up or changing oil and that is what is in.

 

If last time it got 0w 20 FS IV at the service use that for topping up.

Has your VAQ Diff been service?  @ 3 years / 30,000 mile intervals, maybe even @ 20,000 mile intervals now.

Skoda never started putting in VW508 00 / 509 00 until before the WLTP came in, they were not using it in 2017.

VAQ diff was serviced last year, (yep one year late) but cheers for the heads up.

 

Whilst we're on a similar subject, do we know the service interval for the manual gearbox? The car (infrequently) tows a reasonably heavy caravan, so I'm thinking the gearbox will be deserving of some maintenance sooner rather than later... Cars just gone past 55k miles.

Yes but that doesn't mean you can use any 0W-20 oil... It still needs to meet the VW 508 00 spec

 

As for the gearbox, I believe it's a sealed for life unit so I don't think it has a service schedule.
