White smoke with burning rubber smell. What could cause this? 2018 Octavia 1.0 TSi

Featured Replies

Yesterday I was taking my car(Octavia 2018 TSI 1.0) out from underground parking and it was struggling to hold and move in steep exit. Then there was heavy white smoke from the bonnet with burning rubber smell.   Anyone experienced similar problems.  I saw posts about cambelt replacement but how do we check if there is problem with cambelt after popping the hood.  There was no dashboard indicators about engine oil and coolant problems.  The white smoke seem to come from the sides of the engine. I don't see any melted wires or rubbers.

I moved the vehicle to safe parking spot. I could not get any local mechanic to check this in the weekend so waiting for skoda service to open tomorrow to get the vehicle serviced.

Assuming it's a manual... That sounds like you cooked the clutch.
