2017 Superb - Windscreen / rear screen / headlamp washers suddenly stopped working - fuse ok

Featured Replies

Hi

Got a 2017 Superb 3 here - been mostly faultless (mostly!) for 90,000 miles.

I've come to use it today and the washers do not work (the pump is not working at all).

Checked the following:

Fuse (42) - all good but replaced with a new 40 amp just in case

Fluid level

Both front and rear wipers work as expected

Boot lid opens (also fuse 42)

I've found another thread here about something similar but it's on a LHD car and some of the references/locations to connectors & controllers don't work on a RHD (I couldn't find anything!)

My gut feel is the pump is dead but I'd have expected a fuse blow first.

I'm not technically minded enough to start trying to trace pin outputs on connectors to a BCM (not that I could find it) so before I book it into a garage, I'd like to access the pump and change it (for the sake of £20, got to be worth it).

Could anyone help me understand what's involved?  I expected the bumper might need to come off but any guidance / links would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance

Si

My washer reservoir/pump is in the RH front wheel arch, accessible after removing the wheel and the wheel arch liner which is quite easy. However yours I suspect may be on the LH side of the car? (it will obviously be on the same side as the filler) in which case according to my reading of the maintenance manual, you have to remove the front bumper. This sounds a bit daunting but it's not too hard. Just some undertray screws, screws in front of the wheels and at the centre at the top. Lots of cables but if you only need to move it forward slightly, you probably don't need to disconnect most of them.

Thanks to Nick for the support!

I got to the pumps (x2 - so the single replacement I bought was wrong!).  Both worked when connected to a 12v battery.  I WD40'd the connections and re-assembled and it's working again although got an old issue (had it before) - water running out from the rear boot - and the washer isn't working.  Skoda have said previously it was blocked jets which they cleared and the next day it stopped again (water leaking from boot to the floor), and then a new wiper mechanism was needed  -changed under warranty.  I'll hope it's some dislodged crud in the jets 😞

Cheers
