Kamiq TDI DSG clutch slip

Featured Replies

hi all,

after 3.5 yrs and 60k km with a 1.6 tdi kamiq the dsg started a light trembling when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. But only then. Going from bad to worse finally the clutch was slipping that much that engine was revving up especial with 4 person in the car and going on uphill BUT only when on 3rd gear! Anyway i got the car to the official skoda network and got repaired. By the way since they wasn't telling much (for example when i asked them if it requires maintenance, etc) i insisted to receive any kind of papers to justify the repair just in case.

Now the car has 75k km and i have a feeling that trembling starts again. Not every time but it does. Same thing, only when shifts up from 2nd to 3rd. Back then i was covered by a 4yrs warranty which is over.

Do kamiqs 1.6 TDI have the DQ200 DSG and does this gearbox requires periodic maintenance?

Moreover I always had an unanswered question. Why this malfunction takes place only when dsg shifts up form 2nd to 3rd gear?

Why not from 4th to 5th or any other gear that is on the same clutch (1,3,5,7)?

Does clutch clamping force depend on engine load? Could it be something else than gearbox mechanism that has an effect on clamping force and at the end clutch slips?

hoping you can understand what i'm trying to figure out any advice would be really helpful.

thank u

yes and no. The DQ200 is a sealed unit so doesn't require oil changes. Earlier DQ200's didn't have the greatest reputation for reliability tho.

The DSG mechanics are far too complicated for me to understand but there are plenty of issues with the mechactronics so not sure if you're experiencing an early failure symptoms.

Sorry, but that's as much as I can add.  Only other thing I can say is if it is mechatronics, then whilst some garages quote silly figures to fix the problem, there are specialist who can service the mechatronics unit for 1/4 of the price.
