Water pooling passenger door

Featured Replies

Hi all

Had my Octavia for 3+ years now, always noticed water towards the front of the passenger door but never really thought any of it, until I start reading about seal issues. Boot was the easy one, add some holes to the seal. The door has me a bit confused.

The door seal looks "fine". I've had the doorcard off in the last 6 months to change the mirrors and didn't notice any excess moisture.

But it definitely looks like water is coming from between the seal on the car and the door card. The seal on the car is wet around 2/3 of the way around at the bottom, and up to the split in the seal on the front of the door aperture.

Is there a "known" fault here to look for? The drivers side is 100% dry.

Cheers :)

Standard issue. The window mechanism is mounted on a steel plate with a seal between it an the door structure. The seal does not always work. I have removed the door cards, dried the joint and used silicone sealant around the lower half of the window mechanism.

This keeps the water inside the doors, which are a wet area by design. Check the drain holes are clear in the bottom of the doors. You may need to flex the seals out of the way to clear some of them.

Incidentally Mk1 Fabias are the same design.

As above, I have had the doorcard off today, saw where the water falls through, dried it out with some alcohol and gave it a good clean, then sealed along the edge and up the sides a bit.
