Low/Highline Rear view camera MIB1, MIB2 Compatibility

Featured Replies

Hello!

How can I determine if the car supports a lowline or highline camera for retrofitting?

I found that, for example, in Volkswagen, MIB2 units ending in 819 and 820 do not support any type of camera. But where can I find precise information about which unit supports which camera?

What car do you have. Make  model year. Which unit,  Amusden or Columbus. I have Columbus MIB 2 in 2016 Superb, and have a rear reversing camera fitted  by a member of this forum. Or do you mean front camera behind rear view mirror?

I install cameras for others, but there's always an issue with whether they support low or highline cameras. That's why I'd like to know what determines it.

I think the headunit either supports a camera or it doesn't...

I've not come across a car only supporting a lowline or highline version.

I am lost in all this information because someone says only the MIB2 can handle the Highline camera, while others believe it depends on the car and the year of manufacture. But someone has also said the same thing before, that it either supports both types or neither.
