Front & rear washer problem

Featured Replies

My car is a 2016 combi.

For the last while when I go to activate the windscreen washer it will output washer fluid to both the front and the rear windows. Similarly when I go to activate it for the rear window it will output washer fluid to both front and rear windows.

However the wipers will only come on as I intended - i.e. if I go for windscreen it will activate the front wipers only (even though it's put fluid out on the rear too).

Has anyone encountered this and know what the issue might be?

What governs the flow to front/rear - is it separate pumps, a valve somewhere etc.?

Could it be the stalk despite the wiper activation being ok or a separate control module somewhere?

The one way valve in the pump has failed.

replace the washer fluid pump and all will be working again.

Good that it's the pump as it's a relatively easy fix.

Forgot to update this so will now for anyone that comes across it.

Changing the pump was indeed the solution.
