I went to Halfrauds today in order to get a tool to remove the Symphony HU in my Fabia. Wanting to put a Polo cupholder in where the under-radio tray is located.

The 'european radio' removal tool they had in stock was too big to fit in the slots so I had to go back in and get a refund.

So, does anyone have this tool and wouldn't mind taking a pic and posting it up so I can see what I need to buy?

Alternatively, does anyone near Preston have the tool so I could drop by and use it? Nearest Skoda dealer to me is Blackpool so I've a fair drive to go and ask them to do it for me, seems just as easy to ask Briskoda people first.

Or, does anyone know the part number of what I actually need to get from Halfrauds?

Junior hacksaw blade snaepped in half and pushed in the two slots, take the buttons out above the radio and the trim up the side, the radio really is a tight fit and you will need to get your fingers in there to get it out

Or key a pair of keys from Skoda.

Panasonic/Kenwood keys also work.

EDIT: You won't need to remove any trim either - it's dead straightforward to swap the tray once the HU's out...

I used the hacksaw method and a finger in the cassette slot

Jigsaw blades also work

I don't have any jigsaw blades small enough so would rather get hold of the proper tool.

Had a quick go with chopped credit card before making this thread, but no joy using that method (didnt want to start removing trim parts around the radio).

No cassette slot to put finger in either, alas!

Leave the jigsaw blades IN the jigsaw..... they'll make the right size slots for you...
