Front right steering/suspension noise, Superb 2012

Featured Replies

So I have been having this noise issue with my 2012 Superb.

It's quite hard to explain but I'll try my best.  There are 3 scenarios that I can reproduce the noise, though they sound a little different., I feel they are all related.

I had a suspension check done, they found my right shock was completely soft and the swaybar link was completely worn, which I got to see and confirm that indeed they were. These were replaced.

I thought this would fix the issue as the noises come from that front right side, but it hasn't.  Although the overall ride has improved with the shock replacement.

The first sound is a creak when stationary and I'm rocking the car, this is in one of the videos.

The second is a creaking when moving the steering left and right while moving along but off the accelerator.  This is typically reproduced when in 2nd, or at lower speeds.  This is the other video.

The third is when driving slowly, and the road is a little bumpy I get a kind of creak/rattle noise, this is the hard one to explain and very hard to get audio of because it's not as loud and doesn't always happen.

Any ideas would be amazing, I'm just waiting to get it back in to the same guys for another look.

I've recently had a similar issue with road noise and creaking from the front suspension - I'm not sure it will help but have the shock absorber top mounts been changed? I had my 2014 2.0 tdi in for a new nearside front shock and they replaced the top mount too - the creaking has stopped (although I need a new offside front wheel bearing).

Hope that helps.

Check sway bar bushings and lower control arm bushings as well. They will make sound as described in situations you have. Also as T0nt0b0b says, did they replace the top mount suspension assembly when doing your suspension?
